How to perform bed leveling?

No matter what FDM 3D printer you use, the first thing to do when using it for the first time is to perform bed leveling. The leveling of the printing platform is to adjust the printing platform to the level to prevent the printing quality from being affected. When set to level, no matter where the nozzle is on the platform, the distance between the nozzle and the platform will be the same.

The leveling of the printing platform is very important for the quality of subsequent printing, if the the distance between the nozzle and the printing platform too far, the printing model cannot firmly stick on the platform, which possibly get off the platform during printing, causing the printing to fail. And if the nozzle is too close to the printing platform, the platform can also prevent the filament from being extruded from the nozzle, so the leveling process cannot be ignored.

This time we used a square shaped model as for the printing test. If the leveling is good, the printed square will be like the following, the printed lines are neat, and there is no space between the lines.

If the printed square is like the following, and the wire frame is loose, it means that the distance between the nozzle and the printing platform is still too large. At this time, it is necessary to level printing platform again to set the distance between the nozzle and the printing platform narrower. After the adjustment, try to print until the printing platform is leveled to a satisfactory result.

On the contrary​, if the printed square is like the following, the filament cannot be effectively extruded, which means that the distance between the nozzle and the printing platform is too small. The distance between nozzle and the platform needs to be increased. After the adjustment, try to print until the printing platform is leveled to a satisfactory result.
